Kinlyo Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 15, 2026
Kinlyo ("Kinlyo", "we", "our", or "us") respects the privacy of families and children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when parents or guardians use Kinlyo, including the parent app experience and supported child-device family safety features.
Kinlyo is designed to help parents and guardians understand their child's digital activity through transparent setup, pairing, permission disclosures, and parent-friendly summaries. Kinlyo is not marketed as a covert tracking or surveillance tool.
The iOS version of Kinlyo is parent-only. It does not include child-device setup, Accessibility Service, microphone recording, Usage Stats, overlay protection, or Android foreground services. The Android version may include both parent and child roles, including child-device setup and permissions that parents enable for family safety features.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use Kinlyo.
1. Who This App Is For
Kinlyo is intended for parents and guardians who want to better understand and support their children.
On Android, a child device may use Child Mode after a parent pairs the device with a family account. Child Mode is intended to be set up transparently by a parent or guardian and shows in-app permission disclosures before sensitive permissions are requested.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how your family uses Kinlyo, we may collect or display the following categories of information.
2.1 Parent Account Information
When a parent signs in, we may collect:
- Name or display name.
- Email address.
- Authentication identifier from the sign-in provider.
- Account role and basic profile information.
- Login and account activity timestamps.
Kinlyo currently uses Google Sign-In for parent authentication. If Sign in with Apple is added, Apple account information may also be used for authentication.
2.2 Child Profile Information
Parents may create or view child profiles. This may include:
- Child name or nickname.
- Date of birth or age.
- Gender, if provided.
- Child profile identifier.
- Parent-child account relationship.
2.3 Family-Connected Reports and Insights
Kinlyo may display reports, summaries, insights, and activity timelines generated from family-connected data. This may include:
- Daily or historical insight reports.
- Topics, interests, and themes related to a child.
- Suggested conversation prompts for parents.
- Safety or connection status.
- Video or activity metadata where available, such as app/source, title, timestamp, duration, and device context.
- Audio metadata where available, such as timestamp, duration, source context, and processing status.
These reports are designed to provide summarized signals and context to parents. They are not medical, psychological, educational, or professional advice.
2.4 Android Child-Device Permission Data
If a parent sets up Child Mode on an Android child device, Kinlyo may collect or process data needed for the family safety features that are enabled. Depending on granted permissions and feature settings, this may include:
- Accessibility Service data: supported foreground app activity, visible text such as video titles, page views and taps in supported apps, other app actions, app context, and paired child device identifiers, used to create safety summaries, show activity in the parent dashboard, and apply parent-approved app limits or rest schedules.
- Usage Stats data: app names, package names, usage duration, foreground app events, and timestamps, used to show app usage reports and enforce schedules or limits.
- Microphone/audio data: audio from supported video content only when Child Mode detects supported video activity and microphone permission has been granted. Audio may be used to create safety insight metadata and may be uploaded to Firebase Storage for processing.
- Device information: child device identifier, device name/model, permission status, app version, and connection status.
- Protection settings and events: parent-configured schedules, allowed apps, limited apps, device lock state, extra-time requests, and protection events.
Android child-device permissions are used only for the family safety features that parents enable. Kinlyo does not use this information for third-party advertising.
2.5 Device and App Information
We may collect technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the app, such as:
